The second topic of the series on Coffee is Caner.
A study done by the Japan's National Cancer Center has shown that drinking coffee can prevent Liver Cancer. The study was conducted on 90,000 people in japan over a span of 10 years. Result of the study has shown that coffee drinkers have half the risk of getting liver cancer compared to non drinkers. However, scientist could not identify the substance which prevents liver cancer. They only evaluated that coffee contains certain antioxidants which have this properties. A comparison was done with tea but the scientist did not see a significant link with tea and liver cancer prevention.
The traditional way of making coffee in Singapore has shown to prevent development of advanced colorectal cancer. Singapore Chinese makes coffee by boiling and sieving ground coffee beans with a muslin cloth filter. In this way, the cloth retains chemoprotectants such as cafestil and kahweol which may protect frequent coffee drinkers against the development of advanced colorectal cancer.
Coffee has been proven to be of help to other type of cancers such as Throat, Breast, Stomach Cancer etc. However, do not over consume coffee because it might cause other complications.

Coffee Vs Caffeine
The first series of articles will be on Coffee, one of man's favorite drink.
Coffee has been very popular due to its aroma and taste. For certain people, coffee has become a necessity, helping them survive their day of hard work or late night studying. Besides its ability to keep one awake, coffee has many other health benefits when consumed in moderation.
In this article, Jin's Health Tips will only be focusing only on the effects of caffeine.
Caffeine aslo known as 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine, works by stimulating the heart, brain and muscles and thus keeping you awake.
How to get your coffee last you longer?
It takes about 45 minutes for caffeine to enter your blood stream after consumption. Following, the amount of caffeine will slowly decrease as it gets broken down or removed. If you want the stimulative effect of coffee to last for a longer time, you will need to stagger your coffee breaks properly.
If you finish a cup of espresso at one shot, you will probably be over stimulated for a short period of time but your attention level will not sustain. Conversely, if you were to stagger the time and amount of coffee you drink, the effects of caffeine will last longer. Different amount of caffeine works for different types of people due to the different tolerant levels and other factors, therefore, you will have to try out what works best for you.
To avoid caffeine withdrawal symptoms such as drowsiness, irritability, nausea, vomiting, headache and decrease alertness, ensure that your caffeine intake a day is not more than 300mg.
Below is a guide as to how much caffeine(mg) does your Starbuck drink contains.
